Hi, I’m Johannes! 🙂
I am currently a PhD student in the Computer Vision & Learning group at the University of Munich, under the supervision of Prof. Björn Ommer, where I am working on diffusion and flow models for efficient and scalable image synthesis.
I started my academic journey with an undergraduate study in Psychology at LMU Munich. Alongside this, I started a second degree in Computer Science, where I discovered my passion for machine & deep learning.
During my master’s studies in Intelligent Interactive Systems at UPF in Barcelona, I mainly followed the computer vision track. In theoretical lectures and practical lab sessions I was able to gain a solid and deep understanding of machine & deep learning algorithms and their application, especially in the computer vision domain.
After completing my master’s, I worked on healthcare-related machine learning in the Trustworthy AI division of the Fraunhofer Institute of Cognitive Systems. At the same time, I interned at the Computer Vision & Learning group at LMU Munich, where I worked on video diffusion models for probabilistic weather nowcasting. This research eventually led me to begin my PhD in March 2023.
Outside of my academic pursuits, I enjoy cycling 🚲 and hiking in the mountains ⛰️. 🙂
